Fitness photoshoot

This fitness photoshoot… OMG, that was cool to do!
As I wrote earlier, I get the chance to try out various fields for my study to train as a professional photographer. The assignment now was boudoir photography, but could be freely interpreted. I chose boudoir photography for men, so-called dudoir. This is basically a fitness photo shoot with a slightly more challenging character. Not in the gym, but in my photo studio.
William had indicated before that he wanted to be a model, and that was the perfect choice for my, actually our, first fitness photoshoot!

Photoshoot for men

Is a fitness photoshoot for men that different from one for women? Not as far as the vibe in the studio is concerned! Whether a model is female or male, wearing much, little or no clothing, both feeling comfortable is a priority. From this pleasant atmosphere during a photoshoot for men, the result is naturally great photos.
William had no experience of being in front of the camera, and that is not at all necessary! Hardly anyone does. I give you relaxed guidance during the shoot, in terms of poses for instance, and show you the photos taken in between. You see yourself in the mirror every day, but it’s often only in a photo that you see how good you look! And that boosts your confidence during a shoot, making the photos even better!
During a photo shoot for men, my job is to make your shape stand out as much as possible. It is so important to show the most beautiful contours of your body and, if desired, the most muscular definition.

Do you need experience for a sports photoshoot?

William (& Maria) had no prior experience posing in front of a camera, and that’s absolutely not necessary for a sports photoshoot. I will guide you throughout the shoot – helping with poses, even ones you might not have thought of yourself, haha – and I’ll also show you the photos as we go.

You see yourself in the mirror every day, but often, it’s only in a photo that you truly realize how incredible you look! That boost in confidence during the shoot makes the photos turn out even better. Perfect!

During a photoshoot for both men and women, my job is to showcase your physique in the best possible way. Using the right lighting, I highlight the best contours of your body, and if desired, make sure your muscle definition is as visible as possible. That aspect is so important!

Review

After this shoot, I asked William to write a few words about his experience with fitness photography, and voilà – here’s his fantastic review:
“This was my very first photo shoot so I had no idea how this would go. We had scheduled a few hours for the shoot and it immediately ran very naturally and smoothly, as if we were already instantly in tune with each other. Cindy knows exactly what to do with the camera and lighting, including how I had to pose. She gives clear explanations and hints for a nice pose. It was very comfortable and Cindy was especially focused on the photos and thus looked at this with a professional eye. The open personality made it feel very relaxed and I was not insecure, despite this being completely new to me. During the shoot, I will already see a number of photos go by and was immediately amazed by the professional result.
Looking back on this experience, I am super happy to have done this. A snapshot of who I am at this moment in my life that I can also look back on later with pride.”

Low-key photography

Bringing out the best in your physique is what I achieve through low-key photography. Here’s how it works: by photographing against a black background and lighting one side of the body more prominently, I create a strong contrast, making your body truly shine.

Low-key photography also translates beautifully into black and white images—stunning as a large print on your wall at home.

Are you a woman and interested in doing a shoot like this with me? Of course, that’s possible! I always discuss your preferences beforehand. If you’d rather emphasize your soft curves instead of sharp muscle definition, I adjust the lighting and atmosphere accordingly.

This setup also works exceptionally well for a maternity shoot, as you can see here.

Fitness photographer

Honestly, the label “fitness photographer” suits me perfectly! I work out a lot myself, so I completely understand the motivation behind fitness photography. Anyone who is proud of their current physique is welcome in my studio.

And no—you don’t need to have a super-ripped body for a fitness shoot! Whether you’ve worked hard on your shape, lost a significant amount of weight, gained some, or just feel good about your body for any reason—you are more than welcome.

Fitness photoshoot pricing

I hear you thinking: “Cindy, what’s the cost? How much for an hour of fitness photography just for me?”

Well, I’ve set up a clear pricing page for that! Scroll down a bit on that page, and you’ll find the fitness photoshoot rates under “Studio Shoot”. Choose the package that suits you best—Silver, Bronze, or Gold—or just reach out to me for a no-obligation chat.

Or, if you need quick info and want to check available dates, just WhatsApp me!

Fitness photoshoot preparation

A great fitness photoshoot doesn’t start in the studio—it begins well in advance! Think about your nutrition, training, and rest in the days leading up to the shoot. Make sure your skin is well cared for, and bring your favorite sportswear if you’d like. We’ll discuss your wishes and ideas beforehand so we can create a plan together. This way, you’ll be fully prepared, and we can achieve the best results during the shoot. Yes!

Clothing, Location & Accessories for Your Sports Photoshoot
I always provide tips on what to do (and what to avoid) before a fitness photography shoot, as it depends on the goal of your session.

For example, if you want more muscle definition, you could slightly reduce your water intake a few days before the shoot. But don’t overdo it—hydration is essential for healthy skin! Keep your carbohydrate, protein, and fat intake at the same level leading up to the shoot. And if you want extra effect, you can even train on the day of the shoot for that final pump.

Important: Avoid wearing tight clothing on the day of the shoot—come in loose-fitting clothes to prevent marks or lines on your skin. Bring outfits for the shoot, and don’t forget nice socks and clean, polished shoes—yes, really! Haha!

I also have various fitness accessories available, such as dumbbells, resistance bands, and a jump rope. But feel free to bring your own equipment or any items you’d like in your photos!

Studio sports shoot Amsterdam

Here, you’ll find examples of fitness photos I’ve taken in my Zaandam studio. The clean black background and low-key lighting ensure your physique looks incredible during a studio sports shoot in Amsterdam.

Let’s be real—Zaandam is practically next to Amsterdam, but here, you get the bonus of free parking!

Prefer an outdoor shoot, a cool location, or even your gym? That’s totally possible! Read more about outdoor sports shoots here, or just reach out to me, and we’ll discuss the possibilities.

Did I get you excited? Have I convinced you that I can capture every body beautifully, no prior photoshoot experience needed—just any athlete who’s proud of their physique? Yes? Awesome!

Then let’s make it happen—WhatsApp, email, or call me now! I’ll check my availability, and we’ll book your shoot right away.
