It was about time to give some extra attention and write about my work as a Family Event Photographer. Recently, I had the opportunity to photograph several family jubilees, including 50th and 60th wedding anniversaries. Such a pleasure to do!
Why is it so enjoyable? Because the guests are often quite advanced in age and have experienced so much together. The speeches given are usually filled with emotional value, which is beautiful to witness. As a photographer capturing these spontaneous moments, I am happy to contribute by creating a photo report of a wonderful evening, allowing cherished moments to be relived later on.
Does wedding photography fall under this as well?
Family Event Photography is a specialization where I capture the most important moments during family events, such as jubilees and other special family occasions. And yes, weddings are included too!
I am open to a wide variety of assignments. While wedding photography isn’t necessarily my main expertise, I recently photographed a wedding because the couple was very charmed by my work. Since I work as a photographer who captures spontaneous moments, they appreciated the relaxed and genuine atmosphere of my photos. When you make a request, I first ask for all the details, such as the location, the expected number of guests, and what exactly is expected of me as a Family Event Photographer. We discuss everything thoroughly in advance so that everything is clear on the day itself and I can get to work, haha.
As a photographer who captures spontaneous moments, I focus on beautiful moments and capturing emotions, from the arrival of the guests to the speeches and the evening festivities. When spontaneous moments arise between the couple, the guests, or the grandchildren, I am right there to document those genuine and beautiful moments.

Do you notice that I’m present?
Barely!
I often receive feedback that people didn’t even realize I was there, and that’s exactly my goal! Like a ‘fly on the wall,’ I move in the background while taking beautiful photos without the couple or guests noticing. But of course, you can always call me over if something special happens! As a Family Event Photographer, I enjoy working discreetly and capturing the spontaneous moments that are often the most valuable.
Do you also take family group photos during an event?
Absolutely!
That’s often a highlight. We usually do this before the anniversary celebration: the couple alone, the couple with their children and grandchildren, and perhaps with their siblings. Everyone is often a bit older, and such a moment when everyone is gathered together is perfect to capture.
I also take group photos during weddings, of course. There’s often more time and space for this, and these photos can be a bit more creative. We discuss exactly what your wishes are in advance.

Do you photograph in a particular style?
I don’t use fixed edits or styles; instead, I enhance the atmosphere present at the location at that moment. This gives each photo report a unique character!
Whether I use flash or not, as an all-round Family Event Photographer, I find it important that the photos match your event and location. An evening event will look different due to the use of flash compared to a daytime event in natural light. As a photographer who captures spontaneous moments, I ensure that the mood of the day or evening is truly reflected in the images.
